Dr. Loughlin Sweeney published an article in the Oriental Studies journal

Dr. Loughlin Sweeney published an article in the Oriental Studies journal of Dankook University, Seoul, entitled 'Orientalism or Pragmatism? Irishness and colonial encounter in the British military sphere'. The paper explores new approaches to the history of empires and encounter at colonial frontiers, and includes new research on the experiences of nineteenth century Irish soldiers, and their activities in India and China as functionaries of the British Empire.
