Dr. Loughlin Sweeney recently published a paper in the high-profile Korea Observer, the journal of the Korean Studies Association. The article, entitled 'Early Mentions of Korea in British Parliamentary Debates', presents a new perspective on the geopolitical contest surrounding Korea in the late nineteenth century, and explores the extent to which the British official mind at the time was aware of and concerned with Korean affairs.
